Meet Leon Gold Your Momentum Mentor

My name is León. I was born in 1986 in Hamburg, Germany (I'll let you do the math).

I was raised by a single mother alongside my sister, always playing the role of the “good kid.” That was my survival strategy. From a young age, I became skilled at reading a room and shape-shifting to meet others’ expectations — the earliest roots of my codependency.

At school, I only felt safe among my female friends. I was different — softer than the other boys and, well, obviously gay. I graduated with excellent grades, driven by a deep need to live up to the high expectations at home. Perfection became my armor, and it carried me straight into university to study something that felt more like obligation than passion.

After graduating, I met my first serious boyfriend. With him, I began to find my voice — and the courage to follow a different path. I reinvented myself as a personal fitness trainer and aerial acrobat. We moved to Spain, then Costa Rica, and stayed together for nearly a decade. But it wasn’t all sunshine. He fell into drug addiction, and I fell deeper into my own codependency. I spent four years trying to save him, until my own life became unrecognizable.

Thankfully, I found incredible mentors who helped me reclaim myself and rebuild from the ground up.

I eventually returned to Hamburg, took a corporate job, and continued coaching and training on the side. But in true overachiever fashion, I was essentially working several full-time jobs — training clients, working out daily, caring for my dog, supporting my family through their struggles, and trying to “fix” myself through every coaching program, therapy, and self-help tool I could find. Social media and wellness gurus kept insisting I just wasn’t doing it right.

Then my body stepped in. I hit the wall. Hard. Burnout knocked me off my feet. What followed was a functional depression — I was still showing up for life, but barely living it.

That was my wake-up call.

It was time to take my own advice. To stop performing and start listening. To reconnect with my body, my purpose, my ikigai. To finally ask myself: What actually makes me happy?

Today, I’m back in Costa Rica and back to doing what I love — coaching and mentoring others. People like me. Like us. Helping them find their own voice, their own joy, and a life that feels like home.

Core Beliefs

These aren’t just buzzwords—they’re the foundation of how I coach. Every session, tool, and conversation is rooted in the values below.

Authenticity

Be real. Be seen. Be you.

I believe true transformation starts when you stop performing and start showing up as your full self. As a gay man, you’ve likely been taught to shrink or shape-shift to stay safe. This is where you unlearn all of that—and get real.

Empathy

Healing begins with feeling heard.

You’re not too much. You’re not alone. I create a coaching space where your story is honored and your emotions are never dismissed. For gay men navigating burnout, grief, or shame, empathy isn’t optional—it’s essential.

Empowerment

You have everything you need.

Coaching isn’t about fixing you—it’s about helping you remember your strength. I support LGBTQ+ men in reclaiming agency over their decisions, identity, and healing. My job is to walk with you, not ahead of you.

Transformation

Change isn’t magic—it’s momentum.

Transformation happens when you align who you are with how you live. Whether you're recovering from codependency, facing midlife uncertainty, or rediscovering purpose, I help you build a life that reflects your truth.
